Varese Pavilion is a sculpture which gravitates towads the Philips Pavilion, a temporary building designed by Le Corbusier and Xenakis for the Brussels World Fair (1958), and towards the Electronic Poem composed by Varèse, which was played there. It incorporates, in miniature, the architectural principles of the three sleek peaks, to establish itself in this tiny Amber Woods, amid three trees which rise towards the vault of heaven. The sound piece disseminated by the sculpture offers a temporal compression of the entirety of Varèse’s piece and a temporal expansion of his Electronic Poem, whose duration of 8’05” it follows precisely.
