In the “Fertile Crescent”, as in the earliest times of the Cycladic culture, strange terra cotta figures were fixed in the earth in order to guarantee good harvests. Feminine and masculine at the same time, they represented the two indispensable forces for Mother Nature to flourish. Thomas Perrin’s sculptures also fall within this ambivalence, and appear to be arranged in the forest like those ancient ex-votos meant to shelter us from catastrophes. Masculine/feminine kinds of resins, so to speak…
