Brothers of the Trees – the Call of a Papuan Chief
Film by Marc Dozier (France) and Luc Marescot (France)
presented on 30 June 2018 at Saint-Vit (France)
“I have set foot on your lands to warn the planet: when all of the trees have disappeared, people will disappear in turn…” Papuan chief, native of Papua New Guinea’s Hulis tribe, Mundiya Kepanga is a voice of the forest whose observations about the nature of trees are full of poetry, humour and philosophy. By sharing with us the prophecy of his ancestors, he alerts us to the situation of his native forest and the drama of deforestation. A message which raises the question of Humanity’s future, by reminding us that we are all the brothers of the trees.
